You will be welcomed by Sarah or Violeta at 10 am and served tea or coffee and by 5:30 pm you will have made your own cuff bangle!
Using traditional silversmithing techniques and tools you will learn how to cut out your silver cuff bangle with a jewellers’ saw. You will file it to the perfect shape. Then using a blowtorch, you will learn the annealing technique, which is used to soften the metal so that it can be shaped using jewellers’ hammers and a mandrel. You will be given plenty of opportunity to experiment with textures on copper sheet, before moving on to your silver bangle cuff. After practising on some copper, you may choose to add some texturing detail to your cuff. Next is the cleaning and refining stage, which can be extremely satisfying if you are a perfectionist!
Take a look at our Pinterest Board for examples of the types of cuffs that would be possible to make during the workshop.
