Sarah or Violeta will welcome you at 10 am and serve you tea or coffee, and by 5:30 pm, you will have made your own ring!
Using traditional silversmithing techniques and tools, you will learn how to cut out your silver spinning ring with a jeweller’s saw. You will file it to the perfect shape. Then, you will learn the annealing technique using a blowtorch to soften the metal. After that, you can shape it using jeweller’s hammers and a mandrel. The soldering of the ring is the challenging part, but we will provide you with step-by-step guidance. Before moving on to your silver ring, you will have plenty of opportunities to experiment with textures on a copper sheet. After practising on some copper, you may choose to add some texturing detail to your ring. Next is the cleaning and refining stage, which can be extremely satisfying if you are a perfectionist!
Take a look at our Pinterest Boards to see examples of spinning rings that are achievable during the workshop.
